What is Keyboard Anti-Ghosting?

Ghost Key: The phenomenon where certain keys cannot be properly recognized when multiple keys are pressed simultaneously

NKRO (N-Key Rollover): The maximum number of keys that a keyboard can simultaneously recognize

Gaming Impact: Anti-ghosting performance directly affects multi-key operation experience in games

Mechanical Keyboards: Usually have better anti-ghosting performance than membrane keyboards

Test Significance: Helps you understand keyboard reliability in high-intensity usage scenarios

⚠️ Hardware Limitations

USB HID Protocol: Standard USB keyboards support maximum 6 simultaneous regular keys

Keyboard Hardware: Regular keyboards support 6KRO, high-end gaming keyboards may support 10-key or full NKRO

Browser Environment: May have additional limitations on simultaneous key detection

Test Design: Our test combinations are optimized for maximum 6 keys to accommodate most keyboard hardware

Keyboard Ghosting Test FAQ

Common questions about keyboard ghosting and anti-ghosting features

What is keyboard ghosting?

Ghosting occurs when pressing multiple keys simultaneously causes some keys to not register or causes unintended keys to register. This is a hardware limitation of many keyboards.

What is NKRO (N-Key Rollover)?

NKRO means the keyboard can detect any number of simultaneously pressed keys without ghosting. Full NKRO keyboards can register all keys pressed at once.

Why is anti-ghosting important for gaming?

Many games require pressing multiple keys simultaneously (e.g., WASD + Shift + Space). Anti-ghosting ensures all key presses are registered, preventing missed inputs during gameplay.

Do all mechanical keyboards have anti-ghosting?

Most mechanical keyboards have good anti-ghosting capabilities, but not all are full NKRO. Check your keyboard's specifications for its rollover rating (6KRO, 10KRO, or NKRO).

Why does my keyboard only support 6 simultaneous keys?

This is usually due to USB HID protocol limitations. Standard USB keyboards support 6 regular keys + modifiers. Some keyboards use special protocols or PS/2 connections for full NKRO.
